Do you ever wake up with knee-deep anxiety from the moment you wake up? You feel a nagging pain in your chest. Your mind is racing. And something is just off.

Earlier this year, every morning I’d wake up with anxiety.

I’d meditate for an hour and a half just to feel some relief.

At first glance, it’s easy to point the finger to outside people, situations or circumstances to blame as the cause of your anxiety. But what if your life is going great, you practice mindfulness every day and you STILL suffer from anxiety.

What is the cause then?

Naturally, I was flabbergasted.

What I learned from my personal experience was that anxiety should be embraced and (dare I say it) is one of our greatest lessons.

  1. This was a very timely video blog Tejal! I had been experiencing nagging anxiety and negativity for weeks and could not seem to put my finger on it. I was doing all of the things that typically help me to remain centered…I was praying, meditating, practicing yoga, reading, etc. and while I would feel better in the moment I would gradually get sucked back into my anxious feelings. It wasn’t until last night that I had an, “aha,” moment and realized that my anxiety and negativity was actually my ego trying to keep me playing small!
    I have been on this spiritual journey for months now and have been able to make great strides in a variety of areas within my life. But I know that I am truly just on the cusp of a level of living that I cannot even fathom. A level that is greater than I have ever experienced and because of that I realized my ego is freeeeeaking out! I realized that all of the heightened anxiety and depressive emotions I have been feeling was my ego’s way of fighting against this change and for a few weeks it was definitely getting the best of me. I had been stuck and spinning my wheels. When I realized what was really happening I instantly became joyful because I realized that this signified just how much growth I am poised to make and that I am on the right path.
    I took my “aha,” moment and put it to good use by writing my own mission statement and doing some meditations, etc. that I hadn’t visited in some time. I can’t express what an amazing shift my energy went through in less than a 24 hour period! I took back control from my ego and used the tools I know I can count on to help me, “stay the course,” that I am on and it has made such a difference. I love that the universe brought your blog to me this morning because it only affirmed that my intuition was right and that this wonderful journey I am on has taken another wonderful turn. Yippee!

    • Michelle!! I’m so incredibly proud of you! What you experienced is a natural on the spiritual path. As we grow we will naturally come in contact with invisible electric fences that will want us to play small… it’s doing some major action and healing that breaks the fence so we can move to the next layer. In my experience so far, each new breakthrough requires busting through new invisible fences. It’s not easy but when you look back it’s truly magnificent to see the strides we have made!
