HOW TO MAKE PEACE WITH YOUR ANXIOUS MIND

anxious mind, distracted mind, fearful mind, racing mind, hurrying, time management, not enough time, headaches

On a bad day (and those can come one after another)- every little thing from our kids taking too long to eat, to our hubby forgetting to take out the trash can drive us crazy. We can get itchy, distracted, antsy and even too jumpy to meditate.

So we wonder, is this just the nature of motherhood or is there any way to make peace with our anxious mind?

As a busy mom, you can’t afford to feel restless, impulsive, distracted and forgetful. So much is riding on you to be on your A game.

Before you suffer from your next brain overload try these 3 ways to slow down and stay steady when anxiety comes knocking on your door.

Step 1 Do Something Simple

In the moment we feel anxious, everything speeds up – our thoughts, breathing, heart- we begin to feel out of control. This makes it difficult to think clearly. Rather than over-analyze the thing that triggered your anxiety, focus on simple tasks.

Do something that you have complete control over that is unrelated to the trigger like drinking water, eating, gardening, walking.

Being mindful of simple tasks reminds us we are in control of our choices. Do the task fully and completely with your attention.

Step 2 Do A Reality Check

Anxiety often stems from fearful thoughts about things that haven’t actually occurred in real life. They are thoughts that live in our head that conjures up physical and emotional reactions.

Our minds are quick powerful and tricky. When you feel anxiety about something ask the following question “Is this thought my absolute truth?”

Chanced are your fears are not facts. It’s not your reality you are just dwelling on the worst case scenario. Opening up to the possibility that something else can happen allows you to open up to the space of infinite and limitless possibilities. It’s now your choice to focus on a different outcome.

Step 3 Channel Your Anxious Energy (Constructively)

Not all anxiety is bad. Sometimes anxiety isn’t that see and you can channel the energy out of your mind and body by doing another activity that distracts your mind from going for a walk, cleaning, playing with your kids or reading a book instead.

Now I’d love to hear from you.

In the comments below, share with me one thing that causes you great anxiety. I want you to do the reality check test on it and share with us another thought you can subscribe to other than your fear.

Remember share as much detail as you can because there are tons of amazing mamas who come to this site for inspiration. Your wisdom might be exactly what someone needs to experience a major “aha” moment for themselves.

If you know another mama, friend or sister that would appreciate this advice, please do share this article with her. I’d be so grateful to you (as will she).

Have an absolutely beautiful week mamas
