You wanna raise a confident child, am I right? So truly how confident are you?
Do you accept your weaknesses? Embrace your flaws. Love your body and value your voice?
It’s like that famous 80’s commercial where the dad is grilling the kid about how he started smoking pot and he yells “You alright. I learned it by watching you.”
That doesn’t just apply to drinking, smoking or pot smoking.
When we don’t value ourselves. Throw insults at our body. Don’t believe in our dreams. Doubt our infinite soul personality. Our children pick up on that too.
I grew up with a mom who didn’t value herself so she sought validation, appreciation, and acceptance from our children. That’s a heavy burden for a child to hold up the self-worth of their parent while trying to find their own self-worth.
If you’re like me and want your child to be confident, have a strong sense of self and value themselves BEFORE they start dating, then this week’s blog is for you.
The key to raising confident chidlrne is to take the focus away from them and start focusing on you. The way you build up your own confidence will be ways they will grow to honor themselves.
Do you take time for yourself to relax? That is showing them you are confident enough to take time for yourself.
Do you give yoruself a break when you make a mistake and laugh at yourself? Thats how you each yoru kids that you are confident in your skin to not take yourself seriously.
Do you say I love you to yoruself everyday? Telling your child I love you and then saying Mommy loves herself. Do you love yourself too? Is a great practice to show kids love is not always about giving outwards, its about giving inwards too.
These simple ways of building condfidence and self-love will help you lead by example. Your confidence will naturally rub off on your children.
I’d love to hear from you…
Share a technique you do to build your own self-confidence?
Remember to value yourself. There is nobody who ever has come before you or will come after you, who will be just like you. You are worth celebrating!
