What keeps you up at night?

Fear of the unknown future?

Fear of inadequacy?

Fear of your children getting harmed?

Subscribing to our fearful thoughts are a big cause of stress.

In fact, fear and stress are cousins.

Today, I share a small 3 step routine to bring some mindfulness to your greatest fears.

STEP 1: DON’T AVOID

When you feel the energy and uncomfortableness of fear arising in your body sit with the feeling. Let it be there. Breathe continuously and deeply from your belly (not chest). Not rapidly but at a quicker pace than usual. This continuous breath will allow you to move through the emotion without feeling overwhelmed.

STEP 2: BE FRIENDLY

As fearful thoughts of dread and worry continue to emerge, invite your greatest fears to tea and hear what it’s trying to tell you. Become friendly with your fear. Acknowledge its existence. And then say “Thank you for indulging me but I choose to stand in my courage instead. Goodbye.”

STEP 3: FIND CONFIDENCE

Be kind toward yourself for being afraid. See what happens when you hold your ground and let the fear arise in your mind without subscribing to that thought. This builds a foundation of deep confidence.

  1. Well … This must be the theme of the year… I have been suffering with anxiety for a year now. It took me a while to admit it partly because I had no earthly clue what was happening to me. My story began with a dream. I always wanted to move to Spain and life with a mix of outside expectations got in the way. I finally decided that this was my chance to follow my dream and I did it. I sold everything and took a chance. I thought moving from Texas would be enough … I have been living in Spain and for almost 3 years. However, last year I started getting panic attacks because i felt that my time in Spain was coming to an end.
But somehow threw meditation and hard work I have been managing. I am still seeking other tools to get better. I know i am not 100% but I know i will eventually be able to cope with everything.

    1. Hey Lynnette! I totally feel you!! I felt like that when I moved to my dream state of California and that is actually the time when my life started falling apart. I felt like it was a lesson to me that no place, person, or external life situation can ever make you feel TRULY happy, safe and fulfilled. That all comes from filling the void in our heart that can only be filled with a deeper connection to our soul!

      Sending you all my love!

      Tejal
