“Gosh, I’m so stressed out!”
Something so commonplace in our life, but how often do you think your grandparents said that? Or great grandparents? Or cavemen?
This idea of “feeling stressed” is a result of physically stressing out our nervous system to the point of exhaustion and depletion.
But waging a war against stress doesn’t do much of anything.
It actually will increase the stress.
But stressing out is completely a choice. Stress is a result of poor decisions that drain your mind, body and soul.
So what can you do to interrupt the stress cycle and let in some space?
Well this week’s blog is going to teach you 3 tasks that will help you minimize stress.
1.MINIMIZE MULTITASKING
Sometimes it’s necessary to do see things in a rapid succession. But too much multitasking, jumping around from one task to another in a constant state of partial attention- is exhausting, inefficient and highly stressful.
Instead of checking emails, planning supper, talking to your kids and texting your sister, try giving each task your fully attention.
Anytime we give our undivided attention to one thing we trust ourselves that we fully show up and do the best we can in that moment.
2.GET YOUR FACE OUT OF YOUR PHONE
Your phone is your EVERYTHING, all-the-time, go-to distraction. It constantly steals your attention, drains your energy and wastes your time.
It’s like having someone nudging and nagging you all day long. Sure our phones have some great purposes but setting boundaries on when, where and how you will use it will help you cultivate a more healthy relationship with your electronics.
Try putting away completely during meal prep and dinner time. Make a rule not to be on your phone when your children are talking to you.
Create your own rules, put down your phone, take in the moments by just being there fully.
3.PLAY
All work and no play is the recipe for dissatisfaction and burn-out.
Playing isn’t only for children. It’s not a waste of time it actually helps you be more creative and let off steam.
Playing simply means doing something for yourself that has no other purpose, plan or aim than for your own enjoyment. So head to a coffee shop and read a magazine, play cards, go bowling or read for pleasure.
It’s not how many hours you indulge in play,it’s about making space in your life for downtime.
So now I want to hear from you.
Which one of these techniques are you going to apply into your life to release stress from your life?
Our lives don’t have to be defined by stress. It’s our choice. By making healthier choices you create a healthier life.
To your health and happiness,
