New Years Resolutions have always been something that I could never stick too. Whether it’s clean eating, working out or meditating twice a day, come March, I find myself going back to old patterns.
The New York Times reports that four out of five of us break our New Year’s resolutions.
This year I wanted to try something new. I wanted to make a resolution to genuinely be more in-tune with my son Ayaan. Not just physically be more present but I wanted to be more tuned in emotionally and intuitively.
I wanted him to feel seen, accepted for who he is and not judged by what he does or how I perceive his actions.
If creating a deeper, meaningful and more authentic bond between you and your child, is your highest priority, then these 3 New Years Resolutions will be ones not only that you WILL keep but they’ll make you happier and fulfilled too.
Here are my three resolutions…
1. Make eye contact with your child at least 3 times a day when you are talking to them. Pretty self-explanatory. Let your children know that you really see them.
2. Practice mindful listening- When your children are talking to you, stop and fully listen to them. And if you are distracted or multi-tasking, don’t pretend to listen, let them know you will finish your task and listen to them later by giving them a specific later time.
3. Praise your child at least once a day for a trait they exude. (Hint think of what each Chakra represents) I love how brave you are, how courageous, how kind, confident, honest, focused, wise, loving, patient, caring, free-spirited, creative, open-minded, funny etc…
When our child feels seen, heard and accepted for who they are and not what they accomplish their self-esteem thrives. Ask any mom what they want for their kids and they say I just want my child to be happy. A confident child exudes happiness and that means happy mamas too.
To give yourself and your children the greatest gift, try these powerful yet simple shifts each day and watch a meaningful bond with your children grow.
Now I want to hear from you…
Share in the comments below which Resolution you are going to adopt this year. If you are a go-getter, let me know if you are doing all 3!

All my best,

Love this because it makes me feel proud of myself! I do this now 😊
What would #4 be!?
❤️❤️❤️
Happy New Year Tejal, Chirag & Aayan🎉
That’s amazing Nicole! I think making a point to be present and give your kids 5-7 positive statements To your kids about who they are and not what they do. The goal is to make positive statements when they don’t expect it. Even with Ayaan I get in a habit to say it now. I focus on each chakra and praise his true self. Like I love how confident you are. You are so wise. You have a beautiful and kind heart. I love how you keep trying. You are so brave. When they are upset and mad they did something wrong you say you are so loved, you are safe and it’s okay to make mistakes. You get the idea 🙂
