How often do you find yourself unable to authentically speak your truth?
Whether it’s how you feel when your mother criticizes your parenting style. Or your inability to tell your husband exactly how you feel when he doesn’t help you with the kids.
No matter how blunt or reserved you are, at times we all feel a block in effectively communicating our needs, desires, and feelings to others.
Yogi Bhajan, the Kundalini Master taught hundreds of quick Kundalini yoga tools to help us live our highest potential that we can carry through our modern life.
Today I’m going to share an excellent “pinkie technique” tip for open, honest and free-flowing communication you can carry throughout your day.
This technique was taught to help us when we don’t know how to communicate something that is bothering us. It works equally well when we are trying to communicate some creative work and we are blocked.
When Yogi Bhajan taught this mudra, he said, “There are certain techniques that can help you – without a cost. For example, whenever you do not know how to communicate something that is bothering you and you have to go to a meeting to talk.”
Press the pad of the thumb firmly onto the nail of the Mercury (pinky) finger for about one minute. When we press the pad of the thumb onto the nail of the Mercury finger, it is called locking the Mercury finger. “By locking with the pinky (Mercury finger), you develop the inner strength to communicate anywhere with anyone, under any circumstances.” Yogi Bhajan
Just press your little finger for about a minute.
Then change the mudra and touch the tip of the thumb to the tip of the Mercury (pinky) finger and press for one minute
“It is a total physiological situation. And when you will touch this (the two tips together) and sit, it means your mercury (communication energy) has to be dominating along with your ego. Yogi Bhajan
Notes: All it takes is two minutes. Do it while driving, while watching TV, under your desk or during dinner time.
So I want to think of a person that you have trouble openly communicating with. I want you to try this meditation out for at least 2 minutes a day whenever you feel stumped on what to say.
If you are ready to give it a go, I want to hear from you.
Leave a comment and let me know that “you’re in!” Don’t forget to come back and share your experiences after you use this mudra and meditation.
Communication is the greatest tool we have to feel a deep connection, love and understanding from our family, friends and loved ones. Give yourself the gift to openly, honestly and authentically communicate your soul’s truth. That is where true confidence and freedom lies.
So inspired by your commitment,
P.S.- Know someone who would love this tip? I’d be so honored if you share this will all your mama friends and sisters who would love this. I know they’ll thank you for it too.
