HOW TO MAKE POSITIVE CHANGES LAST

How to be a mindful mom, Creating a Mindful Family. Having a More Peaceful Home with Positive Changes

Consider the New Years Resolution for a moment.

Have you ever resolved to wake up five minutes earlier each day?

Probably not cause it lacks ambition and promise to create powerful shifts in our life.

So many of us believe a real resolution is waking up at 5:30 each morning before the kids get up so I can have time to meditate, relax and get things situated before the kids are up.

We are the go big or go home generation.

You want to quit sugar but you currently each chocolate every day.  You want to workout 5 days a week, but you barely workout once a month now.

We so often think there is no point to change unless we’re going to make BIG, radical positive changes.

Think about all the New Years Resolutions that haven’t panned out.

The problem is we aim for radical positive changes all at once.

Change doesn’t happen until we change our mindset, and we don’t change our mindset unless we take small steps.

In this week’s blog, we talk about what it really takes to make positive changes stick in our life. How can we make changes that make us feel like we are the best mom we can be.

Whether you want to be more present for the simple moments, be more patient with your kids or feel more peaceful every day, let’s talk about how you can make those positive changes a reality.

THE THREE STEPS TO BECOMING THE MAMA YOU MOST WANT TO BE

If you want to make a BIG change, it requires small daily shifts.

Get clear what POSITIVE CHANGES YOU WANT

Being clear on the type of mom you want to be remembered as is crucial. Do you want to be more present, patient, calm, or a better listener?

Whatever it is, get super clear.

pick one daily step

Now it’s time to break it down into small steps. What can you do to become the mom you most want to be.  Break it down into one realistic thing you can do each day.

So how does this look?

If you want to be more present with your kids. Can you schedule 15 minutes of downtime daily with your kids?  Ask yourself do you need to know how to get into the moment quickly and on command?

If you want to work out more. How many times a week is realistic. In reality are you too tired to go to the gym? Do you need an energy boosting tool?

Would you like to feel more balanced every day? Take a look at your schedule to see where you might be wasting time being on social media?

You get the idea. Get clear about daily actionable steps and what would help you get there.

FIND AN ACCOUNTABILITY BUDDY

Studies show that we are more likely to follow through on our changes if we tell someone else about them. We have lied to ourselves so many times. Saying we will change or break a habit. If you know someone is holding space for you to become the person you most want to be, you’ll stay committed because you know someone else is rooting for you.
